Problems with Wordperfect X9 program

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Over the years I have used Corel's Wordperfect programs. I never had a problem with those programs.

The version I "had" was old. So, I decided to purchase Wordperfect X9 (disc) from a major on-line retailer. That's when the problems started.

What has happened to Corel's products? So far I have purchased three different WP X9 programs.

The first one arrived with scratches on the disc so I returned it. I was not about to load that into my computer. The second purchase could not be installed because I kept getting an "invalid" serial number message. I did not want to return the program so I contacted Corel customer service.

That was an unpleasant experience. I waited almost three days for a solution. Never got a response from Corel customer service. I ended up returning that program.

Now, I am waiting for the "third" program to arrive. Now, I am wondering "why" I bothered to order the third program. If there is a problem with that program, it will be returned and I am absolutely done, done, done with Corel!

I am also wondering if the on-line retailer is restocking the defective Wordperfect X9 returns and selling them to other customers. I should not be getting a product that looks like someone else has used it.

Or, a product that says it has an "invalid" serial number. Or, did I get a boot-leg version of this program?? This program is not cheap. There has to be a competitor who is better.

I cannot understand why Corel tolerates its employee to provide such poor customer service. Maybe Corel will face reality when its customer base dwindles.

NEVER PURCHASW COREL WORDPERFECT

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
First I have been a loyal Wordperfect user for over 30 years since WP for Dos vers 4.2. Last month I purchased the WP X9 suite directly from Corel. It has been 7 days since we have been trying to activate spftware which was downloaded from Corel!!!! After 30 years I cannot handle the fact that Corel does not give a crap about their long time users. Worse they then hire a Tech support company in India to pretend to assist customers.

Best to dispute any charge for the downloaded software as unusable with no customer service and go to something like the free Open Office, available on the internet. Do a search for it.

I remember using WordPerfect a couple of decades or more ago and it was very good.

However, times change, as does software. Time to move on.

Purchased AfterShot Pro just after they aquired it from Bibble and have faithfully updated the new releases in hope that each release fixes bugs. Not only do they not fix issues, they create new ones. I no longer will update because it constantly crashes... and the constant buy me adds are too much anymore. I removed it and moved on.

Do not trust abysmal Corel support

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Bought Studio 23 update version in nov 2019. On their website no information at all about update-installation. Contacted Corel support with some questions. Got an almost immediate response which answered my first question but for the rest was useless. I tried again and got the same reaction. Appeared I was in communication with a computer! The only smart thing about this is that I filed a second ticket and they were able to recognise this - sending me the same reaction again. So much contempt for their customers: don't know if I should laugh or be angry.

Abysmal Customer Service

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Bought Paint Shop Pro 2020 Ultimate to get the bundle with AfterShot3. Immediately upgraded to AfterShot Pro 3 to get all the "Pro" features and immediately received software crash every time I tried to create a new catalog. It took over four hours of emails on top of the initial phone call, which also required way too much time, before my ticket was actually addressed. I received a download link and instructions for deleting/reinstalling AfterShot Pro 3, but that resulted in the same software crash. The software looks promising and Corel markets it as such, but they cannot fix the bug, and it isn't the only one. The overall editing capabilities in PaintShop Pro 2020 also are very lacking. Corel states that they have a 30-Day Money Back Guarantee, yet they won't refund my money. The store I bought the boxed software from, Best Buy, Clarksville, Indiana, will also not refund my money. They tell me Corel has to refund and Corel tells me Best Buy has to do the refund. The short of it is, this is terribly buggy, unprofessional software, with no meaningful technical or customer service. I am out $127.00 overall with a manufacturer and their retailer both refusing to stand behind the product, and honor the 30-day Money Back Guarantee. Do yourself a favor and buy professional software if this is needed for your livelihood. Stay the heck away from Corel if you need products that are reliable, and if you want real customer service instead of cursory, offshore, rude people from India, who refuse to provide what you paid for. I will never buy from Corel or Best Buy again. Period.

Their marketing of products is non-stop - every time you are on your device. You don't even have to be in their program. The ads pop up in the middle of any program you are already in. You have to stop what you are doing to close it. NON-STOP obnoxious. BUY ME BUY ME BUY ME. Do not get involved with this company or it's products.

Worst customer service bar none. They treat loyal customers like dirt - to be swept away

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
i have used Corel for many year and until about 2 or so years ago it had reasonably good customer service. No longer. Not only that they have a seriously defective activation system that seems to be deliberately set up to make multiple activation behind my back then claim I have activated it too many times. I suspect it was caused by a buggy trial version of X9 that after the trial was up refused to in-install. I eventually had to get a third party uninstall program to get rid of it. Suddenly my X7 demanded I activate it. OnLine activation wouldn't work. I raised a support ticket. Instead of someone sorting out this bogus multiple activation problem all I get it robotic parroted cut and paste answers saying I have exceeded their activation limit. What makes me so annoyed is it is the COREL SYSTEM that has done these bogus activation. I have been going round and round in circles with inane, badly trained parrots in their support centre (preumably in India) who dont seem to have the first clue how to read or understand clearly written English, dont want to sort out the primary cause of the problem (cranky activation system) nor provide any solution other than a parroted reply that tey only solution is to upgrade. How in the world can I have confidence that if I shell out good money the problem wont happen again? Many reviewers have had the very same problem. Their software locks out demanding an activation - then being told it has been activated (unknown to them) multiple items. Well folk with such shoddy software, and unbelievably bad so called customer service couple with a management that just couldn't care less that they are losing a massive number of formerly loyal customers over this issue - my software money will certainly NOT be wasted on Corel in the future. After 25 years with them if this is the way the treat customers I will treat them the same way. I wont bore you with all the details of the appallingly BAD so called customer services., I have just finished my last e-mail to them suggesting the person looks for another job and along the way learn how to give proper customer service. Corel wont be in business a long time with a customer policy like this. Many software and other companies have hit the dust over the years because of similar problems in the way they have treated their customers. Corel is rapidly going the same way

After weeks and weeks suffering frustration of different idiots in their India based customer service centre, and after writing to Corel CEO (by regular air mail post) I FINALLY FINALLY got a really nice knowledgeable helpful guy at Corel based in Canada who took a serious interest in my situation, took my concerns and problems onboard and worked out a really good solution. Just why earlier requests to escalate the case to someone who could do something took so long or was ignore baffles me.

However Douglas the gentleman who did finally take on the case was a real star. He sent me printouts of the activations - he said it was strange their system did this with only minor changes in hardware on my PC.So top marks to Douglas the gentleman deserves a promotion. I suggested he be promoted to train the other idiots how to provide proper customer service. Im very happy at the eventual outcome.

I now have a proper working copy of WP office. Corel management really do need to take a serious look at what happened here and take immediate steps to improve and properly train their customer services Better still shut down the useless India based centre and put in place the good system they had a while back.

If they want to survive they need to take serious steps now not wait until their loyal customer base bleeds away. They are nwo keeping me as a customer thanks ot Douglas but it really should not have taken this long

Original review Sep 02, 2019
I wrote and air-mailed a letter to the CEO of Corel outlining the problems. Result absolutely NO RESPONSE whatsoever by mail or e-mail. I contacted them via Facebook and subsequently by case messaging. What appear to be a helpful person who seemed to take an interest promised to take it higher. They did get a partial sort out in that it accepted the serial number. i was promised the activation problem would be sorted. Yet again a hollow promised - EXACTLY THE SAME PROBLEM AS RIGHT FROM THE START OF THIS FIASCO came up i.e. product activated too many times. I am STILL left with a legally paid for product that has ceased to work - had only been used on the same desktop and laptop that Corel activation system has messed up and their management refuse to investigate what is a widespread problem, abd support staff are incapable of working out. Not only that but the support ticket was abruptly closed down before I hd a chance to check out the installation again and find yet again they had NOT sorted out the problem. A follow in e-mail has been ignored. The problem for me now is summed up in one word TRUST. 1) I cannot not TRUST Corel products - how can I know this wont suddenly happen again and software I have purchased suddenly stops working 2) I cannot now TRUST Corel support/customer services to sot out any problems that may occur. 3) I cannot now TRUST Corel as a company. They have now shown themselves as a company to be utterly UNTRUSTWORTHY. They had had responded in some way to my letter - just acknowledged it even it would have helped restore some confidence - instead they chose to totally ignore it. 4) I cannot TRUST Corel to investigate or take seriously the issues raised and re-assure me that they are doing something to address them. They have in every way shattered the trust and confidence I had previously had for a long time. They just are NOT interested in their loyal customers anyway or doing ANYTHING to restore confidence in them. On the contrary they appear to be doing just the opposite. Why then should I ever waste a penny more on buying their products when any trust I had in them has evaporation thanks to their totally crass treatment

Corel Photopaint

Used Corel Photopaint. Years of valuable artwork. Now they are discontinuing it and not offering any sort of conversion software to later products. To *** with loyal customers. Extremely poor customer service

Corel outsources their customer services. Attempting to resolve, in my case a simple issues with a failed download, took at least 5 calls to the technical support department with no success. Then a request to rebate my cost an additional few calls with no success. Ultimately I had to dispute the charge through my credit card company. Shame their relatively good product has to so poorly supported.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
There mistake took them 24 days to fix their mistake so I could use my software.I bought the 2019 PaintShopPro ultimate 2019. I had to reinstall after a factory update and the serial number on the Corel site kept giving me an invalid serial # message. I called sustomer service and they said I would have to work with Tech support and chat. that was 6/14/2019. I have emails daily, three times they missed appointments set to get the problem handled.... I have lost hours and they would not just give me a new number that would work or do anything. Today, 7/9/2019, I allowed their Tech to go into my computer and try the install. He used the same serial # I had been using, and got the same message. He was then gone for several minuets, came back and corrected one wrong # in the serial number they had given me, and it worked. almost one month and their supervisor Aisha, said that was ok and satisfactory service!!!! thought you all should know!!

Corel Painter 2019 Very Buggy Software

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I have Corel Painter 2019, and I find it exploitative of the Corel corporation, to release a new "version" of the software every year, only to provide minor changes/updates that should be included in the "full" versions. As minor as they are, they do NOT justify being released as new versions of the applications. It smacks of greediness to me.

Also, why does Corel not fix glaring issues that have plagued the software for years?! I am so fed up with the diagonal lines (always perfectly straight) that are often arbitrarily drawn through my paintings. This happens frequently, and I have to spend hours cleaning them up! None of my other graphic programs (Photoshop, Rebelle, Artrage & Sketchbook Pro) do this. Also, as frequently happens, my brush stops working, and I have to reboot my pc to get it to work again! What's up with that? This is very counterproductive, and it happens on all of my computers, so it is not a "computer/hardware" issue because all of my machines are newer and from different manufactures. Also, every time I close and then reopen the program it NEVER remembers the layer I was working on. Instead, it always defaults to the "Canvas" layer. In the early days I would draw for long stretches not realizing that I was on the wrong layer, and so all of my work during the session was wasted. This happened to me over, and over again until I finally trained myself to change the layer ever time I opened the program. It still occasionally happens to me though. No other graphics program does this!!! Also, Corel Painter can't handle larger file types. Anything over a few hundred megabytes makes the program very unstable. Also, the program freezes up intermittently. This happened a lot more with earlier versions, so I am grateful that it only happens seldomly with the 2019 version, but it still happens. Unfortunately, with the 2019 version as with the earlier versions, Painter will sometimes exit altogether close when I'm in the middle of painting, and all the unsaved changes are gone the next time I open the application, hence the reason I try to save very often. I never know when it is going to happen. As I'm painting, the image often tilts to the right for some reason, and I have to use the tilting tool (or whatever it is called) to tilt it back to the original position, and it is so annoying.

There are numerous other issues that this software has, but I'll sum it up to say that these issues have been with the app for many years, and it appears Corel has no interest in addressing them. They'd rather opt to release yet another, ahem... "version" every year than to fix the current software.

Also, the price of the software is way too much in my opinion compared to the competition, and the only reason I use the program is because of its brushes and textured papers. Aside from all the issues they are the best I've ever used, and it shows in the final results of my work! In case you are interested, my online portfolio appears at the URL below. If Photoshop or Sketchbook Pro had these same features, I'd leave this *** software so fast, it would make your head spin!

Thanks for letting me vent!

Corel - Purchashed A Video Editing software product they say will work wioth Windows 7,... - Image 3

I Purchased Corel, VideoStudio X5 Pro, from Amazon.com. I received the DVD software and attempted to install on my Windows 7 laptop.

The product was advertised to be compatible with Windows 7. I kept getting error messages saying my version is not compatible so I contacted Corel customer service. They told me they had issues with this so I would need to purchase the $63 dollar updated version. I told them they should give it to me for free, but they would only give me a slight discount.

Why does Amazon sell products from vendors who will not stand behind what they sell? I will find another video editor software company who will stand behind their product...
