Problems with Wordperfect X9 program
Over the years I have used Corel's Wordperfect programs. I never had a problem with those programs.
The version I "had" was old. So, I decided to purchase Wordperfect X9 (disc) from a major on-line retailer. That's when the problems started.
What has happened to Corel's products? So far I have purchased three different WP X9 programs.
The first one arrived with scratches on the disc so I returned it. I was not about to load that into my computer. The second purchase could not be installed because I kept getting an "invalid" serial number message. I did not want to return the program so I contacted Corel customer service.
That was an unpleasant experience. I waited almost three days for a solution. Never got a response from Corel customer service. I ended up returning that program.
Now, I am waiting for the "third" program to arrive. Now, I am wondering "why" I bothered to order the third program. If there is a problem with that program, it will be returned and I am absolutely done, done, done with Corel!
I am also wondering if the on-line retailer is restocking the defective Wordperfect X9 returns and selling them to other customers. I should not be getting a product that looks like someone else has used it.
Or, a product that says it has an "invalid" serial number. Or, did I get a boot-leg version of this program?? This program is not cheap. There has to be a competitor who is better.
I cannot understand why Corel tolerates its employee to provide such poor customer service. Maybe Corel will face reality when its customer base dwindles.
NEVER PURCHASW COREL WORDPERFECT

After weeks and weeks suffering frustration of different idiots in their India based customer service centre, and after writing to Corel CEO (by regular air mail post) I FINALLY FINALLY got a really nice knowledgeable helpful guy at Corel based in Canada who took a serious interest in my situation, took my concerns and problems onboard and worked out a really good solution. Just why earlier requests to escalate the case to someone who could do something took so long or was ignore baffles me.
However Douglas the gentleman who did finally take on the case was a real star. He sent me printouts of the activations - he said it was strange their system did this with only minor changes in hardware on my PC.So top marks to Douglas the gentleman deserves a promotion. I suggested he be promoted to train the other idiots how to provide proper customer service. Im very happy at the eventual outcome.
I now have a proper working copy of WP office. Corel management really do need to take a serious look at what happened here and take immediate steps to improve and properly train their customer services Better still shut down the useless India based centre and put in place the good system they had a while back.
If they want to survive they need to take serious steps now not wait until their loyal customer base bleeds away. They are nwo keeping me as a customer thanks ot Douglas but it really should not have taken this long

Corel Painter 2019 Very Buggy Software
I have Corel Painter 2019, and I find it exploitative of the Corel corporation, to release a new "version" of the software every year, only to provide minor changes/updates that should be included in the "full" versions. As minor as they are, they do NOT justify being released as new versions of the applications. It smacks of greediness to me.
Also, why does Corel not fix glaring issues that have plagued the software for years?! I am so fed up with the diagonal lines (always perfectly straight) that are often arbitrarily drawn through my paintings. This happens frequently, and I have to spend hours cleaning them up! None of my other graphic programs (Photoshop, Rebelle, Artrage & Sketchbook Pro) do this. Also, as frequently happens, my brush stops working, and I have to reboot my pc to get it to work again! What's up with that? This is very counterproductive, and it happens on all of my computers, so it is not a "computer/hardware" issue because all of my machines are newer and from different manufactures. Also, every time I close and then reopen the program it NEVER remembers the layer I was working on. Instead, it always defaults to the "Canvas" layer. In the early days I would draw for long stretches not realizing that I was on the wrong layer, and so all of my work during the session was wasted. This happened to me over, and over again until I finally trained myself to change the layer ever time I opened the program. It still occasionally happens to me though. No other graphics program does this!!! Also, Corel Painter can't handle larger file types. Anything over a few hundred megabytes makes the program very unstable. Also, the program freezes up intermittently. This happened a lot more with earlier versions, so I am grateful that it only happens seldomly with the 2019 version, but it still happens. Unfortunately, with the 2019 version as with the earlier versions, Painter will sometimes exit altogether close when I'm in the middle of painting, and all the unsaved changes are gone the next time I open the application, hence the reason I try to save very often. I never know when it is going to happen. As I'm painting, the image often tilts to the right for some reason, and I have to use the tilting tool (or whatever it is called) to tilt it back to the original position, and it is so annoying.
There are numerous other issues that this software has, but I'll sum it up to say that these issues have been with the app for many years, and it appears Corel has no interest in addressing them. They'd rather opt to release yet another, ahem... "version" every year than to fix the current software.
Also, the price of the software is way too much in my opinion compared to the competition, and the only reason I use the program is because of its brushes and textured papers. Aside from all the issues they are the best I've ever used, and it shows in the final results of my work! In case you are interested, my online portfolio appears at the URL below. If Photoshop or Sketchbook Pro had these same features, I'd leave this *** software so fast, it would make your head spin!

Verified ReviewerPurchashed A Video Editing software product they say will work wioth Windows 7, but it won't
I Purchased Corel, VideoStudio X5 Pro, from Amazon.com. I received the DVD software and attempted to install on my Windows 7 laptop.
The product was advertised to be compatible with Windows 7. I kept getting error messages saying my version is not compatible so I contacted Corel customer service. They told me they had issues with this so I would need to purchase the $63 dollar updated version. I told them they should give it to me for free, but they would only give me a slight discount.
Why does Amazon sell products from vendors who will not stand behind what they sell? I will find another video editor software company who will stand behind their product...
- Software would not install
Preferred solution: Full refund

Best to dispute any charge for the downloaded software as unusable with no customer service and go to something like the free Open Office, available on the internet. Do a search for it.
I remember using WordPerfect a couple of decades or more ago and it was very good.
However, times change, as does software. Time to move on.
